Hit pause

My second ever finished Blender project. The idea was to create a typical teenager's bedroom from the early 2000s. The kid is about 15 and he's just hit pause to grab a snack or something.

A lot of the props in this scene are things that you could have found in my bedroom at the time, even down to the posters. The photograph is a picture of my dad and me which sits on my desk in real life. The rest of the props are my own designs which were based on real-world products.

I modelled this scene over about six weeks, working in my spare time. I'm a 3D noob so I wanted to avoid getting stuck in any kind of comfort zone. I knew that this scene would require a wide mix of materials and object types and techniques.

Technical stuff - It was created in Blender and rendered with the cycles engine using 600 samples. A little bit of colour grading was done in Photoshop to increase the brightness, contrast, and bring out some more yellows in the highlights.
