Most of this scene was completed last month, but I've only just got around to rendering it. I made the awful mistake of rendering this with full global illumination. How much longer can it take to render? A lot longer, as it happens. This scene took about 15 hours to render. I won't be making that mistake again.
At some point, I must have accidentally dragged the wood-paneled wall forwards slightly, so I had to re-render the trophy and place it back on the wall in photoshop. Some other minor changes and corrections were done in Photoshop too.
Texturing was done in Substance. Most of the engraving details on the furniture were achieved via fancy normal mapping instead of pure geometry.
The portrait on the wall is my own work, painted in Photoshop. It's pretty rough and ready, but it's good enough considering it only occupies a small section of the image.
The rugs are just planes with a simple hair particle system. The fire was created using a smoke simulation.
